PEDRO ZAPPINI (priest)

He can be considered the great missionary of Latin America, creator of ever new Stigmatine activities and presence: first in Brazil (Prov. S. Cruz), then, from 1980, in Chile. Here he worked for many years as pastor of the parish of H. Redeemer in Santiago. From here he moved to Paraguay to consolidate that mission. And he remained there for many years, giving his best in the parish of Villeta (Assuncion), also building the "Padre Gaspar Social and Cultural Center" for formative, family and ecclesial group meetings. Only a degenerative disease stopped him, which forced him to return to Italy, to S. Leonardo (VR), where he died after a long period of slow senile dementia, reduced to a progressive infantile state: always and everywhere lovingly cared for.
