The DEATH OF Fr. SANDRO DI TULLIO CSS ON THE
MORNING OF SATURDAY 29th AUGUST 2009
The testimony of Fr. Richard Rathari CSS, community member
When I woke up in the morning of Saturday the 29th August 2009, before 6.00am, I realized that Fr. Sandro had not yet gone to the Church for Mass as he normally does. I met him from the kitchen telling me that he was not feeling well. He told me that his chest was painful and he had been vomiting during the night, and therefore he asked me to continue with the celebration of the Mass. We were hoping that after Mass we would go to the hospital. I went on to celebrate Mass. After the Mass I went to my room to collect my bag so that we could go to hospital. From my room I called him, he did not answer. I went to his room and saw him as if he was asleep. I tried to wake him up. He did not wake up. I called the Parish chairperson immediately and some elders of the Parish since they were still around the church after Mass. They witnessed what I saw. We then took him to the Clinic of the Consolata Sisters and the doctor at that clinic declared him dead. Then we took the body to Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary where it would be kept until Wednesday morning.
