He was consecrated a bishop in 1916 and sent as an Apostolic Delegate to India and subsequently to Japan. Back to Rome he was appointed secretary of Propaganda Fide and then again sent to USA as Apostolic Delegate. He was created a Cardinal in 1933 and appointed Prefect of Propaganda Fide as well as Cardinal Protector of our Congregation. Our Congregation benefited from him and was supported by him in various difficulties. He always loved us and appreciated our ministries and activities.
