ALBERTO FONTANA (priest)
BIRTH:
Castel Tesino, TN – 7.10.1921
FIRST PROFESSION:
1940
ORDINATION:
1949
DEATH:
Verona (S. Leonardo) – 29.1.1986
AGE: 65
He followed his brother Antonio in entering our Institute in Verona. He managed to complete his studies notwithstanding the sad circumstances of the world war. He showed particular inclination for music, and he became a furbished organist and choir master.
As a priest he was sent to Milan (S. Croce). In 1967 he left for the Ivory Coast, where the Stigmatine mission was being opened. He did not have a strong health. While spending himself with generosity in all the works of ministry, he contracted a mysterious illness (amyloidosis) which compelled him to return to his homeland in 1985.
He was hospitalised in Negrar (VR) for three months, then he went to stay in San Leonardo, to prepare himself for death.
He offered his suffering for the continuation of the missionary work in Africa.
