He was almost always in charge of the kitchen and the sacristy, to which he dedicated himself with passion and constancy. In 1939 he asked to go to Brazil where he remained for seven years, when he was compelled to return to Italy because of ill health. He was very resourceful and inventive with great imagination which made him successful as a catechist, with great interest on the part of children. He suffered some mental unbalance. He contracted pulmonary emphysema that made him suffer much but with great patience. He died a quiet death.
