Fr. Dennis Batacandolo, CSS has passed away in the Lord.
Fr. Dennis was born in Iloilo, Philippines, on January 31, 1956. He entered the Congregation, after an attempt to join the Jesuits, attracted by the homilies of Fr. Charles Sinesi, as the older of the first batch of aspirants, on the year 1988. He pronounced his first vows on June 12, 1992 and his perpetual profession on June 12, 1995. He was ordained a Priest on December 10, 1995 by Cardinal Sin. He got a doctorate in Sacred Theology in the University of St. Thomas (ex-Angelicum) presenting a thesis on «St. Gaspar and the Filipino spirituality», having as advised Fr. Joseph Henchey, CSS.
He exercised his ministries in different fields, as teacher, formator, chaplain and parish priest, but his best quality has been expressed in the pastoral service of the Word of God, with a fluent and appreciated eloquence.
He passed through some difficulties with Superiors and Confreres, thus being advised or asking for several absentias a domo. Presently he was in exclaustration in his native Diocese of Jaro (Phils) since July 29, 2019.
Two weeks ago he was diagnosed with covid and rushed to the hospital. Since the early morning of yesterday September 8 he was in critical conditions, until at 6:55 in the evening he passed away. His Confreres and Superiors in the Delegation, saddened by the news, but with hope in the Lord recommend him to the mercy of God and to your prayers.
